Acute Tonsillitis
Acute tonsillitis is mainly a disease of childhood but is also frequently seen in adults.
Signs & Symptoms:
- Discomfort in the throat, difficulty in swallowing
- Generalised body symptoms like malaise, fever and body ache
- Pain in throat which sometimes extends to the ear.
- Unpleasant smell and taste in the mouth
- Hoarseness

Palatine Tonsils:
The palatine tonsils are subepithelial lymphoid collections situated in-between the faucial pillars. These help in protecting the respiratory and alimentary tracts from bacterial invasion and are thus prone to frequent attacks of infection.
Chronic Tonsillitis
Chronic inflammatory changes in the tonsil are usually the result of recurrent acute infections treated inadequately. The most common and the most important cause of recurrent infection of the tonsils is persistent or recurrent infection of the nose and paranasal sinuses.
Signs & Symptoms:
- Recurrent attacks of tonsillitis
- Often little or no pain in the neck and little or no difficulty in swallowing.
- Halitosis and a bad taste in the mouth.
- Neck lymph nodes are often enlarged.
Causes:
- Viral
- Bacterial
- Poor oral hygiene
Homeopathic treatment helps by:
- Prevents the recurrence.
- Frequency of episodes reduces.
- Reduction in severity and intensity of pain during the episodes
- The dependence on antibiotics reduces.
- Prevent the surgical removal in more than 80% of the cases.
